Services For Youth

MACL provides a wide range of meaningful, quality youth services to the community of Mission. We offer the following services, Supported Child Development (SCD), Child and Youth Activities (CYA), Youth Connections Summer Program, Children’s Respite and Staffed Home living.

Youth Connections Program

MACL’s Youth Connections (YC) Summer Program runs during the months of July and August. Each month consists of two groups (morning and afternoon). Each group is able to support 10 – 12 children and youth.
This popular in demand program mixes summer fun activities, such as parks, games, talent shows, BBQ’s, Science World, and more! This program allows children and youth to build social and relational skills.

MACL’s YC Summer Program can be accessed through a referral form the Ministry of Children and Family Development. Referrals for this program being in March – May.

Child and Youth Activities

MACL’s Child and Youth Activities (CYA) Program is a one-year skill development and activity program for eligible children and youth up to age 19. With a strong focus on building social skills, support workers engage participants in learning, social, and recreational activities within the Mission community.
The program is designed to grow with each participant—children and youth may start in a one-to-one or two-to-one setting and transition into small group options as their skills develop. Structured to foster growth, the CYA Program provides opportunities to build abilities, gain confidence, and form lasting friendships.

MACL’s CYA Program can be accessed through a referral from the Ministry for Children and Family Development.

Respite

Our respite program provides temporary rest and renewal for primary caregivers of a child or youth with a disability. Respite may be as short as a 24-hour period, but can also be for longer periods of time. We match individuals with screened respite contractors who share interests and activities with persons served, and who are willing to provide short-term support.
Individuals receiving respite have opportunities to develop new relationships with other families and friends, and experience different community events and other enjoyable occasions.
Services are available by referral from Ministry of Children’s and Family Development (MCFD).
Private support arrangements are also available. (Fee for Service) Supports may be of a temporary, short-term, long-term or life-long nature.

Services are available by referral from Ministry of Children and Family Development (MCFD).
